Maserati To Build New Sports Car At Its Modena Plant In Italy

Maserati today announced that its plant in Modena will be dedicated to the manufacturing of special high performance, high technology sports cars, in line with the tradition and values of the Brand, which has been present in Modena since 1939. This will exploit the know-how and experience of the team involved in the production of Maserati cars. The plan is to upgrade and renew the current production lines. The first pre-series production cars of a totally new model, which will be a sports car, will roll off these lines starting in the first half of next year.

The CEO has confirmed the key role of the Via Ciro Menotti plant in Maserati's 2018 - 2022 industrial planning; he has assured continuing production and the plan which foresees the renewal and upgrading of the production lines in preparation for the arrival of new models. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles plans to spend more than 5 billion euros ($5.7 billion) on new models and engines in Italy over the next three years to try to make better use of factories and boost jobs and margins.

While FCA's Cassino plant will produce a medium-size Maserati SUV based on the Alfa Stelvio, the Ghibli, Quattroporte sedans and the Levante SUV are built in two plants in Turin.
