The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, India's largest selling SUV has been awarded four stars in the latest round crash tests conducted by Global NCAP. The Global NCAP crash tested the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza sub 4-metre SUV at 64 kmph in a front offset test in an ADAC crash facility in Germany. The Made In India and designed in India Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza scored 4 stars on front adult occupant safety and scored 2 stars on rear child occupant safety. The Global NCAP also rated the body structure of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza to be stable.

The Brezza's body shell takes most of the brunt of the damage to its front end while the likes of the A-pillar remain completely unaffected. This means that there is very little intrusion into the passenger cell itself. The report also states that the body shell is capable of taking more damage and still sustaining its structural rigidity. The fact that the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza comes with ABS, two airbags and ISOFIX as standard tremendously helped the Vitara Brezza get a high score.
Global NCAP also states that the head protection for both driver and passenger is good. The passenger also gets good chest and knee ratings, the driver gets marginal knee and chest ratings. At the rear, the ISOFIX system for child seats worked well for a larger test dummy simulating a 3 year old child but not so well for one that simulated an 18 month old child. Other cars in India that have received a Global NCAP 4 star rating, apart from the Nexon that we mentioned earlier, include the Toyota Etios, the Tata Zest and the Volkswagen Polo.

The engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT automatic. The fuel economy figures on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza are rated at 24.29 kmpl.
